When you are a business owner, you don’t have a lot of free time. I take care of every task needed, plus, I take care of all family tasks as well (cause I’m a control freak!). But, one thing I’ve been wanting to do is make over different parts of our home, and I’ve just decided to just do it!
What do I want to makeover?
I want to makeover our kitchen, bathroom, and even the outside. I also want to paint all the rooms in the house grey to match my color scheme.
My new color scheme obsession is grey/black combo. So, for our kitchen, I plan on sanding down the cabinets and painting them grey and changing the countertops to faux white marble. Here are some kitchen cabinets ideas I saved for inspiration.
I plan on taking the cabinet doors off and sanding everything down. I don’t know how dark I want to go with the grey yet. I’ve checked out tons of options, especially this list of neutrals and you can see that there are about a zillion different grey to choose from – argh!
Our counter tops are probably from the 70’s or 80’s, and green, so you can imagine that this has been driving me crazy for some time now. We already changed out our bathroom counter top and I plan on using the same style for the kitchen. Here is what it looks like.
I was going to change out the knobs on the cabinets to black or silver ones, but there’s 50 knobs and that could get pricey, so I think I will just spray paint them instead. Wish me luck on that one!
If I could afford it, I’d rather get any of these knobs.
I’m really excited about changing out the flooring in the kitchen. We have linoleum that’s white with green diamond shapes. Of course, it’s green!
I want to either tear it out and see if there is wood underneath to work with, or maybe install new wood. I’ve been scouring the internet for flooring ideas and came across this iPropertyManagement article that seems to have some really easy-to-install options, but I’m not sure if I’m going to go the DIY route. I’m thinking maybe just for the laundry area. I’m open for suggestions!
I would love my floor to look like one of these floors.
Aren’t they gorgeous?! I’m getting excited envisioning them right now. I think I wouldn’t even want to put the kitchen table on them-I’ll just eat on the floor. lol
On to the bathroom…we actually did some remodeling 2 years ago when when replaced out bath tub and wall behind it and I LOVE it! We used Bathfitter and it was a much better option then taking it out. It was done in a day!
I want to continue with the grey/black scheme, but with the bathroom, I want more white with grey as an accent.
We have small tiles on the walls (green-yes, I know!!), so, I want to change them to white. I’ve decided to just paint over them with a special white tile paint that will be glossy. Then, paint the top half of walls grey that aren’t tiled. I haven’t decided if I want to change our shower curtain to grey, or leave it white.
Here is the ugly tile:
I definitely am changing out the floor. Since it ‘s such a small bathroom, I’m splurging on flooring. Do I want to go with grey? I’m not sure. Here are some examples I’ve been looking at.
We already changed out the sink and counter top, but I’m going to paint the cabinet grey. Is this going to be too much grey in my house?
I DON’T CARE!!!
I’m going to love it… : )
For my outside projects, I plan on doing some DIY outdoor furniture for our huge backyard that’s being wasted. I’ve been obsessing on Pinterest (I’m telling you, that’s sooo easy to do) looking up cinder block furniture. Did you know that you can make so many things out of cinderblocks? And the great part is, they are cheap!
My plan is to make all of these for our patio-so excited!
Cinder Block Benches
Doing four of them.Priced it out to under $60-can’t beat that.
Cinder Block Shelves
This is even cheaper at under $20.
Cinder Block Fire Pit
Haven’t priced this yet, but the blocks are $1.10 a piece.
Front of House
I plan on just planting plants to spruce up front. I love hostas and if I can keep them alive, I’d love to plant a bunch of them.
Well, that’s it, guys-what do you think? Please leave a comment below and tell about your projects planned!
