What the heck is that?
What it is, is an idea that came to me in the shower.
My head is always busy thinking about ways to make money nontraditionally. I’m always doing the math in my head when I need to make money when things are tight.
Right now, is one of those times…
You see, I run a daycare (which has been very profitable of the last 15 years), and over the last couple of years, business has gone down drastically with all the new daycares popping up. While I applaud those that have figured out that working for yourself is WAY better than working for someone else, I wished that so many moms hadn’t turned to that as a way to work at home.
I have other businesses I run, but, that was my main income because, well, it paid a lot! My true dream has been to go all online with my writing using blogs, books and services, so I guess maybe this is the Universe telling me to stop kicking the can and get off the toilet.
I’ve never been good with sayings… 😉
So, I sat down and did some research on ways to make $10 (easy and hard), and how long would it take to do it a 1000 times. I found a lot of ways to obtain $10 per service/product/etc. I just didn’t know how long/hours/days it would take.
What I decided to do was write down my $10 money sources (or, close to) and start going through them and see how it goes. I am giving myself a month to have an end goal time and see how much I actually make just using the sources I came up with-and add more as I think of them, or find online or however the idea comes to me.
If you would like to try this out as well, feel free to-I think this will be fun (and much needed for income) to try and I’m hoping some of you hop on board as well and I’d love to hear any ideas you come up with too! Below are the ideas I’m using to start this journey-yes, there are many affiliate links, but those affiliate links are one of my $10 source ideas and won’t cost you anything to use them-heck, let’s spread the “pay it forward” if you are doing this challenge as well, or just to make some extra money!
I will keep you posted on my progress and also at the end of the month of July. I already made some money on some and will put my total income at the end of this post.
This is a long list, but I hope you stick around to the end (and join in too!)
The $10 x 1000 Challenge Sources I’m Using to Start:
1. Rebate Apps
I love rebate apps! Especially, grocery apps-so, I’m starting with them on here first.
If you didn’t already know this, grocery rebate apps will literally pay you to grocery shop. Some have $20 payout requirements, but you can just count that as two $10 payments.
All you have to do is download each app and buy the items listed on the app at the grocery store, take a photo and upload your receipt and wait to get paid. Since I’m not going out and buying stuff to just get rebate, I am counting this as an income source. We all have to buy groceries, so why not make money?
Below are the grocery apps I use. You can take the same receipt and scan it on all your apps, so you get double or triple rebates. (Someone told me that if they find a receipt on the ground, they scan it to get more rebates. If that’s something that you don’t mind doing, then go for it.)
If you haven’t signed up for these yet, I would appreciate it if you signed up under my link!
I’ve made over $200 since signing up for Ibotta, but for this challenge, from that date I started this, I’ve made $20 (two $10).
Fetch Rewards lets you earn points toward gift card redemptions when you scan your grocery receipts for purchases of products from participating brands.
Just download Fetch Rewards from the App Store or Google Play, and then enter Referral Code VM6WT during registration to get 2,000 bonus points ($2 gift card value) after you scan your first receipt.
Since this challenge, I’ve made $10.
Other rebate apps
Ebates is a cash-back shopping site where you can earn 1% to 25% on purchases you make from more than 2,500 online retailers.
You earn these rebates by using Ebates’ online shopping portal. You don’t have to pay any fees, mail in any forms or redeem your points to get your money.
You can sign up for Ebates with a Facebook or Google account, or an email address.
There’s no charge, and nobody will ask for your Social Security number or anything. Make sure to pick one of two sign-up bonuses — either a $10 Walmart gift card or a $10 Ebates cash bonus.
If you haven’t signed up for Ebates yet, it’s a quick $10 to add to your total! You can also refer friends- If you refer friends or family to sign up with Ebates, you get a $25 bonus. For you to qualify for the $25, they have to spend at least $25 through Ebates during their first year of membership.
- Earn points, which are called SBs. There are multiple ways to earn points. The most notable are shopping online, watching videos, using their search engine, and completing surveys.
- Exchange points for gift cards or cash.
Say you spend $100 on Amazon. If you used the Swagbucks shopping portal, you would receive up to 3 SBs for every $1 you spend. Therefore, after a $100 purchase, you’d have 300 SBs.
Same concept as other survey sites. Once you bank your initial $5, you can start earning cash.
Keep in mind you need to earn at least $30 to cash out. Users have reported that InboxDollars will waive a $3 transaction fee if you wait to cash out at $40.

Another great survey site to earn points to cash in.
I’m putting Shopkick on it’s own because, yes, it’s a rewards app, but you don’t have to buy anything to get rewards. In fact, I’ve never spent a dime to get rewards. I can get a $10 PayPal payout pretty fast.
This one is my most favorite app to make cash!
You earn points when you shop in stores and online, but, like I said, you don’t have to.
The points you earn are called kicks, and you cash them in for gift cards or cash. Just go to the selected store and scan the products listed for kicks. They have “walk ins” too. I can get at least a $5 PayPal payout in about an hour at the stores I already was going to anyway.
To sign up for bonus, Use code BLUE253490 or download here.
4. Sell a Product
I have some beauty products that I used to sell on Etsy, but took them down awhile back. I’ve started putting them back up in my store, Little Moon Shoppe, and will add more. If you are doing this challenge, think of inexpensive products that are trending right now.
Hey, it might work…
This will motivate me to finish my two books I’ve started. One is a fiction book, and the other is a self-help book. Ebooks can be written in a week if you have the knowledge of a topic people are willing to read about. Write an ebook on how to start a blog, or about something you are interested in.
7. Provide a Service
Think about your talents and provide a simple service that doesn’t take time to do and charge $10.
8. Door Dash/Postmates
The average job is $10. I am already signed up and plan on dusting off my bags and hit them up on weekends. Postmates seems to pay better, so I’ll probably concentrate on them more.
9. Sell Articles
I’m going to put up gigs on Fivver. If you can write pretty decently, Fivver is a good place to list.
10. Sponsored Posts
I charge between $10-$20 for prewritten articles on my blog.
11. Odd Jobs
I’m hitting up people I know to mow their yard, paint, clean, whatever they need!
12. Sell Your Stuff
Ebay and Facebook Marketplace are great places to start. I may check out “sell-your-stuff” apps too. Update you on this!
13. Sign up to Get Bonus
I’m going to try to find promotions to sign up for to get the bonus.
Clickworker is a website where you can carry out small work tasks for small payments. In more formal terms, is is an online platform for crowdsourced microwork. This will be a great source for $10 opportunities.
15. Freelance Writing Jobs
I’m going to apply for quick writing jobs. Places like Problogger have writing jobs available
16. Refer Friends
Cash App $5
Cash App is basically a debit payment card you connect to your bank to pay and ask for money from other people. When you refer it, you get $5.
Use code: CSKHCGP
Opinion Outpost, $1
Opinion Outpost is a really popular online survey website and they offer $1 per friend referred. There are ton of opportunities for surveys and getting points that you can then redeem for cash.
PaidViewpoint is one of the only survey website with a $1 sign-up bonus but they also provide a decent number of surveys. You can also earn 20% of your friends’ earnings up to $25.
Hiving is an app with a variety of surveys and other earning opportunities and they pay a $5 bonus per friend referred.
SurveySavvy is a survey website and they offer the most surveys available, while also being the website which pays the most to refer a friend (up to $15 per friend you refer).
17. Win it
There are lots of apps out there that allow you to win prizes by answering questions, etc. I downloaded a couple of them and used this one so far:
18. Cash in Change
I forgot that I had some change in my closet, so I cashed it in and surprise-it came to $10! Look for loose change around your house. Why not?
19. Take Back Cans
I am not too proud! I’ve been taking cans back at an average of $5-$10 a week.
20. Raise Rates
I’m raising rates $10!
21. Mystery Shopping
I almost forgot about the mystery shopping apps I used to do awhile back. They ask a lot for the little pay, but I know I can make $10 for about two shops. Here are the mystery shopping apps I use:
This is a mystery shopping app that claims to pay people to shop in secret and share their experience. To get PayPal money you’ll need at least 5000 points.
Most missions that last for roughly 5 minutes pay anywhere between 100 and 500 points. Longer missions that last for roughly 15 minutes pay better.
You can also refer others and earn 300 points when your referral completes their first mission.
Use my referral code ZWD6 to earn 300! http://www.getmobee.com/app/
(I found that I still had a balance of $8 on there I never cashed out-score!)
This is another mystery shopping and data collection app that claims to pay people like you and me to collect information and insights on products and services in retail stores.
Sign up here or use wzxfk6a .
Your job usually involves taking photos of products, checking prices and promotions, and uploading photos and submitting surveys to the app.
Shifts take about 45 minutes, on average, to complete.
22. Affiliate links
This one I’m going to work on the most. Affiliate links are the bomb and if you have a blog, or on social media, you can make big bucks! They are easy to use, just like I am using them in this post.I intend on writing more about this on here soon.
I’ll keep you updated on my progress. Do you have any $10 money making ideas you want to share? Please do below!
