On my journey to be healthier, I’ve discovered a common item mentioned in many books, blogs and word of mouth-the green smoothie. I envisioned it tasting like wet grass mushed up and stringy and slimy strands of spinach leaves being sucked up my straw. Is that graphic enough for you?
So, you can see why I stayed away from them for awhile. Then, one day I decided to just give it a try.
What did I have to lose?
I decided on trying out a recipe that included kale in it since I’ve started including it in other recipes. I found a helpful site called, GreenSmoothieGirl and she wrote this book among others.
Her blog has lots of helpful info on eating right and of course, green smoothie recipes.
I found a recipe for a green smoothie that I was happy with and tried it out. I was pleasantly surpised at how sweet it tasted without having sugar in it and no slimy grass taste. lol
Now, I start my days with a green smoothie and I change it up by adding different fruit for variety. So, if you haven’t jumped on the green smoothie wagon, try it-you won’t be disappointed!

- 1 cup mixed berries
- 1 banana
- 1 cup kale/spinach/romane lettuce mix
- Place greens in first with orange juice and blend. Then add fruits and finish blending.
