As you know, I talk about how my skin and hair are always dry. I am always trying new lotions and I also make my own with coconut oil. I love hearing about any natural products that work just as well (if not better) then store bought.
Argan oil is the new buzzword in the beauty and health care industries. It’s called the ‘liquid gold’ from Morocco. So what is Argan oil, and why would you want to use it?
Argan oil is a plant oil produced from the kernels of the argan tree. It has high concentrations of antioxidants, omega-6 and vitamin E. The perfect choice for hydrating and nourishment for skin and hair.
Since this oil is absorbed into the skin faster than other oils, it leaves skin soft and supple without the greasiness other oils leave. When I read that it helps with scarring, acne, wrinkles and psoriasis, I really wanted to try it. Mainly for help with wrinkles since I’ve started seeing little lines around my eyes.
First, I tried it out on my hand to make sure I wasn’t going to have allergic reaction. It went on smooth and it really didn’t have any oily residue.
Everything seemed fine, so I tried it on my face for a week. I have to say, it works great! My face stayed soft the next day as well. Something that doesn’t happen too much with other lotions. I’m noticing fine lines starting to fade slightly as well.
I decided to add it to a new coconut oil lotion recipe I make and so far it works great-I only have to use a tiny bit at a time, so it will last a long time which makes it very inexpensive too!
I haven’t tried the argon oil in my hair yet, but I plan on giving myself an oil treatment this weekend. Argan oil provides hydration to the hair, so it will make your hair shiner and manageable. Just apply the oil to dry hair and leave on for an hour and then shampoo the hair. I’ll keep you posted on the results.
I’m including my coconut oil lotion recipe for you to make as well. Let me know if you end up making it and what you think-it’ great for stretch marks too!
